Section – Biathlon

The Biathlon Section meets at the Indoor Range on Monday evenings.

The Vancouver Island Biathlon Club Competitive Youth Team have joined the CR Gun club as members and are grateful to be able to train year-round at the CR Gun Club indoor range on Monday evenings to support their training in the sport of Biathlon.

Biathlon is a challenging winter sport combining bouts of .22 caliber rifle shooting on a 50 m range in both prone and standing positions, with cross country skiing, using the skating technique.

The Vancouver Island Biathlon Club is based in the beautiful nordic ski area of Mt. Washington Alpine Resort. Mt. Washington has over 55 km of groomed trails that cover a variety of terrain, much of it in, or overlooking spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park. The club boasts one of the best, fully-automated ranges on Vancouver Island with 26 shooting lanes. In partnership with the Strathcona Nordics Ski Club, who offer excellent ski instruction through their programs, the Vancouver Island Biathlon Club offers 3 different programs depending on age and competition level, as well as day programs and twice a season a Give It A Shot! opportunity for anyone interested in trying it out. Check out www.vibiathlon.ca for more details. We encourage CR Gun Club members to come try Give It A Shot!, or join our programs.
